From a painting of about 1430 by Carlo Crivelli in the Petit Palais:

    1. Well now, that’s why you’re a world-class art historian, and I’m just an ageing bull-shitter.

Because I thought nobody would be mad enough to paint some bird with a pair of eyeballs on a plate, it must be a not-very-well-drawn mirror, and thought about other images of women and mirrors in art and cinema.

But interesting all the same, and definitely something to discuss about The Female Gaze…

I’d also never heard of Crivelli, but Wikipedia put me right. It’s a fascinating exhibition at the Petit Palais. I think you’d enjoy it.
